Ink well Description.jpg

Description ReI hereby certifyy that the old ink-well on display in the home of Cheif Justice Roger Brooke Taney in Frederick MD, was originally owned by Chief Justice Taney.
After his death in 1864, the ink-well became the property of his daughter Maria Key Taney, who was born in 1819 and married Richard Taylor Allison.
I am a cousin of Richard Taylor Allison, who was a major in the Confederate army during he Civil War. Major Allison had no children, and the ink-well was left along with other personal effects by Major Allison to me. Witness my signature on this 16th day of November, 1936

Signed: Margaret Taylor Worthington
